India and England will play the 5th test match beginning on July 1.

However, the visitors were dealt a serious setback even before the game began. India’s captain Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 before the fourth day’s practise match against Leicestershire began.

Mayank Agarwal has been brought in as his replacement, although it is still unclear whether he will play in the Test Match.

Virat Kohli Is Under No Pressure To Score A Century: Rajkumar Sharma

The issue of who will captain India versus England now emerges. Although Jasprit Bumrah is widely believed to be the next leadership contender, Virat Kohli was rumoured to be returning to lead the Men in Blue. Rajkumar Sharma, Virat’s childhood coach, has, however, ruled out any such possibility.

“He was not sacked or removed, he himself left the captaincy. So, I don’t think I will see him leading again. I’m not very sure what the selectors or the BCCI will decide? Virat is a team-man and wants India to do well and contribute to the team, which I think he’s doing very well,” Sharma said in an interview with news agency IANS.

Rajkumar Sharma further stated that despite Virat Kohli’s inconsistent play over the last two years, he is not under any pressure. In fact, since his century against Bangladesh in Kolkata in 2019, the former Indian captain has not reached the century mark, “No, he is not at all under pressure. Contributing to the team and India’s victory is more important for him rather than getting his hundred. He never goes after records. So, as long as he’s doing well and is contributing well with the bat, he is not worried about his personal milestone.”
