Nigel Farage says he is “ready” for another “fight” with NatWest as the debanking scandal rumbles on.

The GB News presenter has accused lawyers acting for NatWest of a lack of transparency after they failed to fully disclose material held about him.

Speaking to Ben Leo on Patrick Christys Tonight, Nigel said the “cover up continues” as he voiced his dismay at being handed “139 pages of press cuttings” after filing a subject access request.

“All I get is 139 pages of press cuttings and no personal information about what was said between NatWest and them [Travers Smith, the law firm acting on behalf of the bank] about me, because they’re claiming legal privilege”, he said.

“This was not a legal inquiry. They were brought in to examine the reasons for the decision.

“The cover up continues. NatWest could, at the stroke of a pen, say to Travers Smith, ‘please give him the information that he’s legally entitled to’.

“The fight goes on. And what I’m saying is, this bank is not fit. They’re selling shares to the British public in an offering to continue with this dishonest policy.

“No wonder the share price is down the tubes since I went public. From the moment I spoke, the shares fell 36 per cent.

“I tell you what NatWest, if you want another fight with Nigel Farage, I’m ready for you.”

The former Brexit Party leader was handed references to newspaper and website articles about him that mainly related to the debanking saga that unfolded last year.

He deemed it an inadequate response to his original subject access request that sought details on files held about him.

Farage went on to joke that he “wouldn’t have been popular” had he shown up to their AGM, which was held in Edinburgh yesterday.

“I wouldn’t have been very popular or got past security”, he said.

“This is really important. The reason I came out as being debanked was because I knew it was happening to lots of other people.

“We’ve learned in the last 48 hours that complaints to the Financial Ombudsman about debanking are up by 44 per cent last year, and that’s just from corporate companies, let alone individuals.

“There is one million bank accounts that have been closed in this country in the last four years. This is a major scam.

“I went public not just for me, but on behalf of so many other people. If you haven’t got a bank account, the modern world, it’s like not having electricity or water coming into your house.

“In the digital world, you literally cannot survive.”

Travers Smith have been contacted for comment.
