Former Indian cricketer Hemang Badani was hit on the right arm during the pre-match show of the Asia Cup match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on August 27.

Badani, who was live alongside Krishnamachari Srikkanth on Star Sports’ Tamil broadcast, was accidentally whacked with the bat by the former India opener while explaining a shot.

Badani was spotted grunting and rubbing his right elbow. While it appeared to be a minor hit at first, Badani appeared to be in discomfort and strained to complete the show.

Badani took to Twitter after the footage of the incident went viral to reassure his supporters and well-wishers of his safety.

“To all enquiring how I am, I in terrible pain but luckily no fracture. It’s blunt trauma and am under medication. Hope to recover soon and be back on the sets,” Badani tweeted.

India And Afghanistan Have Got To Winning Starts

Meanwhile, in the inaugural game of the Aisa Cup, Afghanistan trounced Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. Choosing to bowl first, Afghanistan bundled out the Lankans for 105 runs, led by Fazalhaq Farooqi’s pace. Afghanistan chased the target down in the 11th over, relying on Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 40 and Hazratullah Zazai’s unbeaten 37.

India and Pakistan faced off at the Dubai International Stadium on the second day of the global competition. After winning the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma invited Pakistan to bat first, a choice that Indian pacers headed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar quickly proved correct. Kumar, along with other Indian bowlers, ensured that Pakistan was bowled out for 147 runs.

The Indian response was also plagued by difficulties, as KL Rahul was removed on the innings’ second delivery. While India appeared to be suffering in their chase of 148, the heroics of Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya ensured that the squad crossed the winning line. Hardik Pandya smashed Moahammad Nawaz for a six on the fourth delivery of the last over to score the winning runs.
